2. How We Share Personal Information
We share personal information with service providers to help us operate the Site and deliver our services, and as otherwise described below:
- Shopify — our e-commerce platform. See Shopify’s privacy policy: shopify.com/legal/privacy
- Google LLC — Google Analytics, used to understand Site traffic and usage. See policies.google.com/privacy
- Meta Platforms, Inc. — the Meta Pixel, used for advertising and conversion tracking. See facebook.com/privacy/policy
- Mailchimp — used to send our email newsletter and marketing communications. See mailchimp.com/legal/privacy
- Professional advisors, law enforcement, or regulators, where necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to a subpoena or lawful request, or protect our rights
- A successor entity, in the event of a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of some or all of our business assets
We do not sell personal information to third parties in exchange for money.
3. Mobile Information & Text Messaging
We use text (SMS) messaging to send order updates and, if you choose, marketing or inquiry-related messages. How consent works depends on where you provide your phone number, as described below.
Checkout
A phone number is required to complete an order and is used for order processing and shipping purposes. Separately, checkout includes an optional, unchecked box you can check to opt in to text messages: “Yes, I want to receive text messages from Diamonds by Rothschild about my order and promotions.” Checking this box is not required to complete your purchase.
If you check this box, you may receive text messages about your order status and promotional offers. Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies. Reply STOP at any time to opt out of texts, or HELP for assistance.
Product Enquiry, Design Upload & Custom Design Forms
Our product enquiry form, design upload form, and custom design request form are multi-step forms; your phone number is not requested on the first screen. On the step where we ask for your phone number, we display the following disclaimer directly below the field:
“By providing your phone number, you consent to be contacted by Diamonds by Rothschild via phone or text about your inquiry or consultation. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out of texts at any time.”
On that same step, an optional, unchecked box lets you opt in to marketing texts:
“Yes, I want to receive text messages from Diamonds by Rothschild about marketing and promotions.”
Checking this box is not required to submit the form.
In-Showroom Sign-Up
You can also opt in to text messaging in person at our Pittsburgh showroom, using a physical sign-up sheet or in-store device. Providing your phone number this way is voluntary, and the sign-up includes the same disclaimer used on our online forms:
“By providing your phone number, you consent to be contacted by Diamonds by Rothschild via phone or text about your inquiry or consultation. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out of texts at any time.”
A separate, optional box lets you opt in to marketing texts:
“Yes, I want to receive text messages from Diamonds by Rothschild about marketing and promotions.”
Checking this box is not required.
Forms & Channels Not Used for Text Messaging
Our general Contact Us form does not collect a phone number and is not used for text messaging. Phone numbers collected through our online appointment-booking tool are used only to schedule and manage your appointment and are not used for text messaging unless you separately opt in through one of the channels above.
Customer Service
If you have opted in to text messaging and you text us, we may reply to assist you.
Opting Out
You may opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message, or get help by replying HELP. Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies based on your activity and preferences.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All other categories of personal information described in this policy exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
4. Interest-Based Advertising
We use your personal information to provide you with advertising and marketing communications we believe may be of interest to you. For example:
- We use Google Analytics to help us understand how customers use the Site. Read more about Google’s practices here: policies.google.com/privacy. You can opt out of Google Analytics here: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
- We use the Meta Pixel to measure and deliver advertising on Facebook and Instagram. You can manage your ad preferences here: facebook.com/settings/?tab=ads
For more information about interest-based advertising generally, visit the Network Advertising Initiative’s educational page (networkadvertising.org) or the Digital Advertising Alliance’s opt-out portal at optout.aboutads.info. You can also manage your Google ad settings at adssettings.google.com.
5. How We Use Personal Information
We use your personal information to: offer products and services for sale; process payments; arrange shipping, insurance, and fulfillment of your order; provide invoices, confirmations, and customer support; provide after-sales service such as cleaning, resizing, and repair under the Rothschild Jewelry Care Plan; screen orders for fraud; and, when consistent with your preferences, keep you informed about new products, services, and offers.
6. Your U.S. Privacy Rights
Depending on your state of residence, you may have rights under state privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) and similar laws in states including Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and others. Subject to certain exceptions, these rights may include the right to:
- Know and access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate personal information
- Delete your personal information
- Obtain a copy of your personal information in a portable format
- Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information, including for cross-context behavioral (targeted) advertising
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights
- Appeal a decision we make in response to your request
We do not sell personal information for money. However, our use of analytics and advertising cookies (such as Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel) may be considered “sharing” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under some state laws.
Opt-out of sharing/targeted advertising: You can opt out using the links in the “Interest-Based Advertising” section above, through your cookie settings, or by contacting us using the details below. We also honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a valid opt-out request for browsers and devices that send it.
To exercise your other privacy rights, contact us using the information in the “Contact Us” section below. We will verify your request using the information available to us and respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
7. Automated Decision-Making
We do not engage in automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects concerning you. Shopify, our e-commerce processor, uses limited automated tools to help prevent fraud that do not have a legal or otherwise significant effect on you, such as:
- A temporary denylist of IP addresses associated with repeated failed transactions, which persists for a small number of hours
- A temporary denylist of payment cards associated with denylisted IP addresses, which persists for a small number of days
8. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to maintain your order and service history, provide after-sales care, and comply with our legal, tax, and accounting obligations. Order and payment records are generally retained for at least seven years to meet U.S. recordkeeping requirements. You may request that we erase your personal information at any time, as described in the “Your U.S. Privacy Rights” section, subject to our legal retention obligations.
